Exploratory Science Museum Winner Announced



















The International Competition for the Exploratory Science Museum of Unicamp winners were recently announced. Daniel Corsi, Dani Hirano and Reinaldo Nishimuro from CHN Arquitetos won the competition. Their proposal beat over 100 other entries in the international public competition.

Asked to incorporate the site’s existing buildings, the architects have conceived a large rectangular structure clad in perforated aluminium plates. The geometric holes are designed to diffuse light and control the internal climate.

A ramp under the large structural cantilever leads to the entrance. The main level comprises a shop, library, café, observatory and temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, while the lower level holds the multimedia exhibition, auditorium and science ateliers...READ ALL

Herzog & De Meuron Unveil Revised Design For Parrish Art Museum

The internationally acclaimed Herzog & De Meuron unveiled their re-conceptualized design for the Parrish Art Museum on the 14-acre Hampton site. The new design replaces the firm’s original idea which featured a village-like cluster of pavilions scattered throughout the site. When the museum could not seem to raise the $80 million necessary to realize the project, they approached Herzog & de Meuron for a more modest proposal. The architects took the challenge and created a new building for less than a third of the original budget...READ ALL

Herzog & de Meuron’s design embodies responsiveness to the indigenous landscape, an emphasis on the natural northern light and a dialogue with the local architecture of the East End, especially the many artists’ studios in the area. The proposed design, which has received the unanimous support of the Parrish’s Board of Trustees, is now under review by the Planning Board of the Town of Southampton.
